Katherine "Kitty" Wood

Katherine “Kitty” Edwards Wood, 90, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Wolz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Kitty was born on June 18, 1929 in Forsyth Co. to Hubert Lee Edwards and Edna Garner Edwards. She grew up in Forsyth and Stokes County, and spent a lot of her childhood with her loving grandmother, Rebecca Garner.

She retired from Southern Bell Telephone after 27 years of service. She was a member of The Pioneer’s Club.

Kitty loved to travel, and traveled all over the world, enjoying every moment. She was an open and honest person, who was very giving and devoted her time to those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Kenneth Wood, Sr.; and her son, Billy Kenneth Wood, Jr.

Surviving family includes her two daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Birchfield of Pilot Mountain and Bonita W. Shaw (Johnny) of Elkin; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park.
