Kathleen James Atkins

Mrs. Kathleen James Atkins, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013. She was born July 17, 1929 in Forsyth County to Joseph F. James and Sadie Phelps James. Mrs. Atkins was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene Atkins; four sisters and three brothers. Surviving are a daughter, Pattie Cline; a son, Terry Atkins, both of Winston-Salem; a sister, Mary Rose Snyder of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Tyler (Jolie) of Black Mountain, Kevin Cline of Winston-Salem, Katie Atkins of Boone and Scott Atkins of Winston-Salem; two great grandchildren, Maggie and Shawn Cline of Dayton, OH. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Lung Association, The Kidney Foundation or The American Cancer Society.
