Kathryn "Katy" Hendrix Kiger

Mrs. Kathryn ""Katy"" Hendrix Kiger, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 after a brief stay in Montgomery Hospice Casey House in Rockville, Maryland. She was born April 19, 1923 in Forsyth County to Thomas Robert and Fannie Lenora Petree Hendrix. Mrs. Kiger grew up in Tobaccoville and graduated from Old Town High School. She worked at the Carbon Plant during WWII. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Kiger was a member of First Christian Church of Winston-Salem for 60 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Howard Glenn Kiger; her siblings, Thomas Ralph Hendrix, Alma Hendrix Holder, Ina Hendrix, William Clifton Hendrix, Robert Harold Hendrix, John Elgin Hendrix, Frank Osborne Hendrix, and Jane Hendrix Crutchfield. Surviving are her children, H. Glenn Kiger, Jr. of Nashville, TN and Marian Kiger Kepley of Gaithersburg, MD; grandchildren, Thomas Glenn Kiger, Samuel Hendrix Kiger, William Ethridge Kiger, Christian Crowe, John Crowe, Samantha Rae Kepley and Julia Ann Kepley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at First Christian Church with the Rev. Chris Rinker officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Church of Christ Cemetery in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
