Mrs. Kay Rosetta McAtee, 78, of Tobaccoville passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home. Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home. I looked over Jordan, what do I see, coming for to carry me home. A band of angels coming after me, coming for to carry me home. She was born April 9, 1940 in Burke County to Monion Richard and Josephine Berry Poteet. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Charles McAtee Jr.; her parents and a brother, Steven Poteet. Surviving are two sisters, Judy Merritt of Gainesville, FL and Gay Poteet of Advance; a nephew, Dr. Matthew Merritt and wife Audrey and a great nephew, Judah Merritt, all of Gainesville, FL; a step-son, Mike McAtee and wife Leigh of Dallas, TX; a step-daughter, Kimberly Faye and husband Jody of Kiln, MS; seven step grandchildren and 12 step great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 19, 2018 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Dr. Matthew Merritt officiating.
