Mrs. Kaye Blakley Powers 86 passed away Friday, December 26,2025, at Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Powers was born on December 7, 1939, in Davidson County to Martha Perryman Blakley and Carl Ober Blakley.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, James "Rowdy" Grady Powers and her brother, Carl (Pat) Blakley, Jr. She is survived by her children: son, Jamie Powers and daughter, Hannah Allen and husband, Brian Allen; and three beloved granddaughters, Blakely and Catherine Powers and Avery Garmon; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kaye loved her family, church and community. She was a faithful life time member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir and loved to help with the children’s programs and bible school. Kaye graduated from Pfeiffer College where she majored in English and was involved in many extracurricular activities. After graduation, she began teaching in the Davidson County Schools. She taught high school English for 35 years and brought energy and heart to her teaching and made many meaningful connections during her time as a beloved teacher. She also served as the yearbook advisor and was a constant source of support for staff and students.
When she was not teaching or being involved at Mt. Olivet, Kaye loved hosting gatherings, filling her home with family and friends and always greeting everyone with warmth and affection. Kaye loved having fun and no one will ever forget her beautiful smile.
