Kenneth "KJ" Randall Stimpson, Jr.

Kenneth ""KJ"" Randall Stimpson, Jr., 26, passed away at home on Thursday, July 13, 2017. He was born in Forsyth County on March 27, 1991. KJ graduated from Ronald Reagan High School in 2009 and currently worked for U-Haul as a mobile repair specialist. He currently served on the board of directors for the up and coming 602 Super Limited Tour. KJ loved his family and loved racing. He spent untold hours in the garage growing up, with family, working on the race cars of his father, uncles, and friends. He was a very conscientious and tireless worker staying until the job was done and done right. KJ was a very loving person and what a lot of people didn't see was that he was very sensitive. He loved children and children loved him. KJ also liked to tease and he was very quick witted.
His first foray into racing himself was drag racing at Farmington but his passion was circle track racing. He raced at Bowman Gray, Ace Speedway, Caraway Speedway, Friendship Speedway, and at the Southern National Motor Sports Park. KJ obtained his first NASCAR license at age 16 serving as a crew member for his uncle, Lee Stimpson. His smile was beaming. He first raced circle track himself in 2008 in the Street Stock division at Bowman Gray Stadium. He won a number of races at both Bowman Gray Stadium and Ace Speedway. In the past couple of years he raced dirt at Friendship where he was loving deemed ""Spintang"".
KJ recently purchased a Harley Davidson motorcycle that he loved to ride with family. A very special ride he participated in was the 30th annual Rolling Thunder ride in Washington, D.C. which is a call to action to bring all of our missing in action service members home.
Preceding him in death was an uncle, Mitchell Stimpson. Surviving are his parents, Kenneth and Susan (Brewer) Stimpson; loving sister, April Surber and husband, Justin; nephew, Walker Edward Surber; grandparents, Clay and Linda Stimpson and Don and Judy Brewer; a host of special cousins; also surviving are innumerable friends and the woman that held his heart. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark Key officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday at the Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. He will be forever loved and forever missed. Go in peace, my son and know we love you. In lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations may be made to: Rolling Thunder Chapter 6 NC PO Box 3081 Salisbury, NC 28144-5113.
