Kenneth Theophilus Watson

Mr. Kenneth Theophilus Watson, 95, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Priddy Manor Assisted Living in King. Mr. Watson was born March 21,1931 in Shoals Township, Surry County, NC to Samuel Vade Wesley Watson and Florence Ellen Lanier Watson. As a youngster, he developed a fondness for building things, which led to a rewarding career as a fabricator in the sheet metal department of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, from which he retired after more than 34 years of service. Mr. Watson was a veteran of the US Army and served honorably during the Korean War. Many years ago, at Wedgewood Golf Course, Mr. Watson discovered his passion for the game of golf. He was an avid golfer and continued playing regularly well into his 91st year. He was proud of the fact that he had scored 11 hole-in-ones during his years of playing various courses locally and elsewhere. He loved golf and nurtured many lasting friendships through his involvement in the sport. Even greater than that love, though, was his love of family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Newsom Watson, in 2012, his son-in-law, Raymond Winters, Jr., and his siblings – David, Hiram, Fredrick and Imogene (the twins), Lillie Mae Watson Wilhelm and Jimmy. He is survived by daughters Marcella “Marty” Morris (husband, Craig), Vickie Johnson (husband, Greg) and Lynn Winters; grandchildren Jennifer Ingram (Brian), Joshua Willard (Jennifer), Grace Hollifield (Jeff), Katie Bennett (Jonathan), Megan Winters (John), Melissa Moses (Adam) and Sarah Winters; great grandchildren Jackson, Bristol and Jamison Ingram, Zelda and James Willard, Sara and Madelyn Hollifield, Emerson and Lincoln Bennett, Addison and Levi Moses and Emilynn Winters; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, April 15, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Private burial with military honors by Carl Calloway American Legion Post 290 will be in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery in Tobaccoville, NC. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. Anthony Kummer for his many years of loving and compassionate care of Mr. Watson and to the wonderful staff of Priddy Manor Assisted Living for their kindness and care shown to Mr. Watson during his time there.
