MOCKSVILLE- Mr. Kenneth Louis Vogt "Ken", "Lou", 77, passed away at his home on June 18, 2023. He was born on August 1, 1945, to Florence Allene Barmore Vogt and Emil Louis Vogt in Essex County, NJ. Ken proudly served in the US Army. He married his wife, Brenda on May 20,1978.
He attended Montclair State University; completing studies in computer programming. His work career began with Hanes Hosiery (Sara Lee) as a computer programmer & later at L.A. Reynolds for Jerry Long. He retired from JRM, Inc. in 2022.
Ken was an avid bowler; he and his wife were in leagues and tournaments for many years. He proudly scored a perfect 300 game. He enjoyed playing golf with several friends. He played both sports until he was unable to do so. He and Brenda loved going to their beach house; spending as much time as they could there. He also loved nothing more than being a grandpa to his "girls" Samantha and Sarah.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Emil & Allene Vogt, his wife, Brenda Johnson Vogt & his brother, Richard Vogt. He is survived by a stepson, John "Chip" Contos III (Lori); granddaughters Samantha Contos & Sarah Contos, all of Mocksville, NC, a sister, Gloria Vogt Fulton, of Bloomfield, NJ, several nieces and nephews and also his longtime best friend, Rich Church of Woodstock, Va.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at a later date.
