Kermit Dale Oakley

WALNUT COVE - Mr. Kermit Dale Oakley, 77, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Kermit was born on April 30, 1938 in Forsyth County to William Earl and Louella Hill Oakley. He was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from Piedmont Airlines with over 32 years of service, serving as Director of Avionics. Kermit loved fishing, going to the beach and enjoyed woodworking and electronics. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, Kermit was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Roberts and his brother, Lawrence Oakley. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Vivian Oakley; four children, Pam Hunt (John), Natalie Truesdale (Russell), Leigh Oakley, and Jill Peters (Todd); seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Hannah, Alex, Jay, Caitlin, Stephen and Garrison; two brothers, Ralph and Ike Oakley; and one sister, Betty Wilson.
