Lacy Edward Downing, Sr.

Mr. Lacy Edward Downing, Sr., 77, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his loving daughter by his side on Saturday, May 4, 2024.   Lacy was born in Robeson County, NC on November 19, 1946, to the late Ralph and Hessie Downing.  He was a blue-collar worker and truck driver who retired after many years spent on the road.  Lacy was a simple man who required very little.  He was a tough man that could be hard to deal with but after many years of prayers from his devoted daughter, Lacy gave his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ in whom he rests now.  In addition to his parents, Lacy was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Martin Downing; two daughters, Nona Barton (Scott) and Melissa Downing; one son, Lacy Downing, Jr. (Tina); eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two sisters, Linda Francis (Norman) and Myrtle Parker.  No services will be held at this time.  For The Lord is good; His mercy endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations, Psalm 100:5.  Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Downing.
