Lamar Smith

Mr. Lamar Duane Smith, 64, died on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Hospice Home of High Point. Duane was born on June 26, 1955, in Fulton County, GA, to Charles Franklin and Jacqueline Carder Smith. While living in Georgia, he met the love of his life and future wife, Ann. They married on November 30, 1974, and eventually moved to North Carolina where they raised three children and shared so much love through the years. Duane was hard working, he was an automobile mechanic for Kernersville Dodge for many years and later a Tugboat Engineer for Vane Line Bunkering. Duane enjoyed going to the beach; music, especially the blues, classic country, and gospel; and bass fishing, a passion he shared with his children. Above all he was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Ann Smith; children, Christy Kelly (David), Jonathan Smith, and Brittany Smith (Matt); grandson, Brady Curran; brother, Charles “Charlie” Smith, Jr. (Debbie); and very special sister-in-law and caretaker, Linda Kittrell. A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Parklawn Memorial Park with Mr. Charles “Charlie” Smith, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-1:30pm on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Hospice Home of High Point for all the love and care Duane received.
