Oak Ridge – Larry Gene Plaster, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Hospice Home of High Point. He was born on April 17,1945, in Guilford County to the late Posie Francis and Elva Vaughn Plaster. Larry was a member of the Freemasons of the Stokesdale Lodge 0428. He was an avid fan of Duke Blue Devils basketball. Larry loved spending time with his family, whether it would be getting ice cream, skiing, boating, fishing, trips to the mountains or beach. He had a green thumb and took pride in the landscaping of his yard. Larry was a member of Bethel Methodist Church. He and Lynn had been members since August 1965. Larry loved the Lord and was involved by serving in many roles and committees for the church. He was wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, who will truly be missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, George, and Sam Plaster; three sisters, Marie Scott, Shirley Friddle, and Nancy Friddle.
Those left to cherish his memory are, the love of his life for 60 years, his wife, Lynn Stack Plaster; his three children, Brian Plaster (Kristy), Tracie Tyte, and Jason Plaster (Jeanne); six grandchildren, Aaron Plaster (Amanda), Kristina Plaster, Cole Plaster, Megan Tyte, Claudia Mohamed, and Jordan Badenhop; one great grandchild, Avery Plaster; four brothers, Donald Plaster (Marilyn), Franklin Plaster, Gerald Plaster (Teresa), and Kenny Plaster (Pam); two sisters, Brenda Holt, and Sybil Tilley (Doug); and many special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 16, 2026, at Bethel Methodist Church with Pastor Charmaigne Van Rooyen officiating. The inurnment to follow at the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the inurnment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Larry’s honor to Good Samaritan Ministries of Stokesdale, Hospice of the Piedmont or the Hospice of the Piedmont at https://www.hospiceofthepiedmont.org/donate/. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Plaster family.
