Larry Lee Sheets made his long-awaited journey to Heaven, surrounded by the love of his devoted family. Larry had prayed for a peaceful passing, and in His infinite kindness, God faithfully answered that prayer.
Throughout his life, Larry was a blessing to all who knew him. With a servant’s heart, he shared his many gifts freely—never seeking recognition, but instead allowing his Savior to work through him in quiet strength and humility. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” —Matthew 25:21
Larry will be remembered for his extraordinary spirit and talents: his unwavering humor, remarkable courage through adversity, delicious cooking, and passionate commitment to mission work. He dedicated 35 years of his professional life to Duke Energy, where he worked in Customer Engineering before retiring—a role through which he built lasting relationships and served his community with diligence and care. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and lasting impact.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Lee and Edna Pope Sheets and two sisters, Karen Sheets and Sandra Landreth. Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Pattie Moorefield Sheets; daughter, Jennifer Sheets; son, Chris Sheets (fiancé, Sarah Eckard); four brothers, Jerry Sheets (Carolyn), Bobby Sheets (Linda), Michael Sheets (Marilyn), and Todd Sheets (Kim); sister, Rita Lewis (James); also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care and compassion shown by Dr. Kim Ragsdale, Dr. Sam Turner, Dr. Chris Marshall, RN Lauren Clark, and the Highland Oaks Dialysis Center.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Missions in honor of Larry, to support the work that was so close to his heart.
Larry’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 2:00–3:00 PM.
