Wayne attended East Forsyth High School before proudly serving three tours in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his active-duty service, he continued his commitment by joining the United States Army Reserves. In August 1972, he married his beloved wife of 54 years, Sandra Marsh.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Marsh; sisters, Susan Marsh and Cindy Marsh; stepbrother, Lanny Gentry; stepsister, Jan Bullard; and stepsister, Judi Seigle.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sandra Templeton Marsh; his sons, Jason Marsh (April Marsh) and Evin Marsh; his grandchildren, Johnathan Marsh, Chloee Marsh, and Hayden Marsh; and his nephew, Joe Templeton.

A private graveside service will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
