Laura Conrad Huffman, of Lewisville, was born November 3, 1916 to Omer Carlos and Fannie Margaret Conrad and died May 24, 2012 at Vienna Village. Having lived 95 years, she faced the last remaining years of her life with faith, determination and courage. She was married to the late Robert A. Huffman and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. Their children are Robert E. (wife Letha), Conrad L. (wife Lillie), Ann Corirossi (husband Bob), J. Wayne (wife Norma), Gordon who is deceased, and James D. (wife Myra); 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sibling, Fred A. ""Nick"" Conrad (wife Grace). She was preceded in death by her brother, Transou Conrad. Her family was her joy and she inquired about each one almost daily. Her excellent cooking was enjoyed by her children every Sunday evening for many years until a few months before her death. Her faith was deep and strong. She was a noted Sunday School teacher for over 30 years at Salem Baptist Church. Many of her class came to visit her long after she moved her membership back to Lewisville Baptist Church where she grew up. Nothing pleased her more than to share the memories of Lewisville and the people who lived there. Also she took great delight in researching family history and publishing the results for her family and friends. For many years she would write and print out some facet of family history for Christmas gifts. She was also a member of Lewisville Historical Society and made many contributions. The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Lewisville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewisville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 125 Lewisville-Clemmons Road, Lewisville, NC 27023. The family wishes to thank all those who came to visit Mrs. Huffman. She looked forward to visitors from Salem Baptist and Lewisville Baptist Church and shared those moments with all of the family. Also the family would like to thank the staff at Vienna Village who gave her kind and gentle attention that made the shift from living in her own home to assisted living better than she expected.
