Laura Turberville Morris

Laura Turberville Morris was born in Monroe County, Alabama on January 27, 1938, one of 10 children, to Olive Myrtis Dyal Turberville and John H. Turberville. Laura went to meet her Maker on October 18, 2026. She died peacefully at Vienna Village Assisted Living. Laura graduated from J.U. Blacksher High School in Uriah, Alabama in 1956. In March 1960 she married Don Arthur Morris, also from Monroe County, Alabama. After high school graduation Laura worked as a bank teller in Atmore and Monroeville, Alabama. Upon Don’s graduation from Auburn University, Laura and Don began to move to various locations in the U.S. as well internationally depending upon where Don’s career in Textile Manufacturing led them. The various Morris homes in the U.S. included Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Laura thrived on volunteering at churches, the children’s schools, and various clubs. The same was true when living abroad in Puerto Rico, Barbados and the Philippines. Laura and Don were fortunate to have three children, Connie, John, Julie, all who have brought much joy. Their grandchildren Madelyn, Olivia, Evan and Samantha were born to John and Kelly, adding to the family tree as well as pride and joy. Don’s last career assignment before retirement was in 1984 with Sara Lee Intimate Apparel in Winston-Salem, NC. Don and Laura established their home In Lewisville, NC where Laura worked as a bank teller. She also had a long and fulfilling career at Vienna Village Assisted Living facility as Admissions Director. Laura was a beloved member of the Lewisville community and Lewisville United Methodist Church where her family worships and all are involved in the ministry of the church. Laura enjoyed journaling, writing simple poetry, corresponding with family and friends, bird watching, gardening, and reading. She also cherished time with family and good friends. At her own admission, Laura often spoke of and was thankful for having a wonderful life.
