Laurie Ann Austin

SUMMERFIELD-Laurie Ann Austin, 52 a wonderful wife, mother, GiGi and sister passed away Thursday, October 04, 2012 at Wesley Long Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 24, 1959 in Alameda Co., CA to the late, Carol Lynn Halbert and James Richard Souden. Laurie was full of life, spunk and determination. She was a wonderful homemaker who was very involved with her children; participating in the PTA and other school events. She loved watching them excel in the things that they loved. She loved traveling and special get- a-ways with her husband. Laurie was a member of the Dazzling Dames and loved anything with bling. She enjoyed being outdoors planting flowers, being by the water and just spending time with her family and friends. She loved nothing more than bragging about her grandchildren and being their GiGi. Surviving are her husband of 32 years, Stuart William Austin of the home; three sons, David Ridge and wife, Crystal of Kernersville, Jason Austin and wife, Jennifer of Jamestown, Ryan Austin and wife, Ashleigh of Reidsville; one daughter, Audrey Jolly and husband, Jamie Randleman; four grandchildren, Mia Whatley, Laurelyn Ridge, Jordan Austin, Taylor Anne Austin; one sister, Karen Welka and husband, Richard of Olympia WA; one brother-in-law, Mark Austin and wife, Carolyn of High Point; niece and nephews, Amanda, Jonathan, Eric, Jimmy and Billy; one aunt, Lori Halbert Tuholski; and a cousin, Lisa Lewis. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Jim Wall officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Comprehensive Cancer Center Research, Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, PO Box 571021, Winston Salem, NC 27157-1021. Special thanks to the caring and wonderful staff at Wesley Long Community Hospital, and for nurse Dennis Little for bringing a little church and prayer during the time that we needed it the most and going the extra mile to meet our needs.
