Ms. Laurie Ann Maliska, 50, passed away Sunday, February 09, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born October 3, 1963 in Mobile, AL the daughter of Charles Otis Maliska II and Brenda Kapp. Laurie attended Union Gospel Baptist Church in Germanton and had been employed by US Airways as an International Reservation Agent until her health no longer permitted. She loved animals and was involved with numerous animal rescue and adoption groups. Laurie is survived by her mother, Brenda Kapp (Art) of Rural Hall and a brother, Zachary Kapp of Rural Hall. Laurie is also survived by a multitude of friends who will miss her dearly. Funeral services for Laurie will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Darrell Hampton officiating. Visitation and celebration of Laurie's life will follow the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to AARF, Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation, 311 Harvey Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, www.aarfanimals.org.
