Lavaughn Smith Whitt

Mrs. Lavaughn Smith Whitt, 92, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Sunday May 14, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Lavaughn was born to the late Frank Monroe Smith and Addie Mae Smith on August 23, 1930, in Davie County, NC.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed spending time outside in her garden. She also loved sewing and became a very accomplished seamstress. Most importantly, she had a love for animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Addie Smith; her late husband, Robert Lee Whitt; her seven siblings; and best friend and constant companion of 15 years, her dog Shadow.

Lavaughn is survived by her two sons, Keith (Jennifer) Whitt and Vinnie (Lucy) Whitt; and many special nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held for Lavaughn on Friday May 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Mullen officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, the night prior, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The Whitt family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Cadence of Clemmons for their care and support given to Lavaughn over the past four months.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Forsyth County Humane Society.
