Mr. Lawrence Elbert Banner, 92, passed away at his home on Friday, September 18, 2015. He was born in Forsyth Co. on October 9, 1922 the son of the late James and Sulah Banner. Mr. Banner was a carpenter by trade and worked in construction most of his life. He retired from Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Maintenance Department. Mr. Banner was a United States Army veteran having proudly served in Italy and North Africa during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five sisters; Vivian Savage, Gladys Banner, Lillian Benson, Gail Bramlett and Mavis Smith and his two brothers; James ""Dick"" Banner and Wilburn Banner. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy Hunter Banner of the home, two sons; David Banner and wife Jane and Timothy Banner and fiancé, Leslie Reeves both of Germanton, a daughter-in-law; Cheri Wilson Banner of Tobaccoville, three grandchildren; Christin, Ross and Gray, a great-grandchild; Camdyn and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at Germanton Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Lattimore and Rev. Jeff Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Sunday evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
