Lawrence Elgin Hartman

Mr. Lawrence Elgin Hartman, 88, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on December 15, 1926 in Forsyth County to Bessie Jane Willard and Elgin Francis Hartman. Mr. Hartman served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired as a supervisor of Quality Assurance at Piedmont Airlines after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence K. Hartman and granddaughter Dawyn Lennon. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hazell Ring Hartman; three children, Ronald (Linda) Hartman, Keith (Debbie) Hartman, Tracey (Brian) Rice; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Don) Smith, Ann (Jack) Mustin; one brother, Johnny (Jane) Hartman. A graveside service will be held 1:30 pm Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Center Grove Baptist Church Historic Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Josh Hill officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
