Lawrence Yow, Sr.

Mr. Lawrence Curtis Yow, Sr. 87, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 20, 1931 in Forsyth County, the son of the late, Joseph A. Yow, Sr. and Nina Dull Yow. Mr. Yow was a member of Konnoak Hills Moravian church and was a graduate of James A. Gray High School. He worked for Salem Electric and John E. Pfaff & Sons Plumbing and Heating returning to Salem Electric as Supervisor. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph A. Yow, Jr. Survivors include his loving wife, Joan P. Yow of the home, two sons, Larry Yow and Alton Yow and wife, Susan of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Kendra Wolfe and husband Brandon; Rodney Yow and wife Miranda; and five great grandchildren, Emilyn and Luke Wolfe, Carter Yow, Katelyn and Skylar Foster, and one on the way. Four sisters, Catherine Butner of Lexington and Annie Ruth Atkinson, Doris Lawson and husband, Delmer and Dorothy Snow all of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. John D. Rights and Pastor Brandon Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
