A good man died today. Not many people knew him. He spent much of his time alone. He wasn't a prideful man, nor was he unkind or unapproachable. He spent most every day fighting the battle that most people with schizophrenia fight. A war against delusions so believable, he could often not discern the real from the unreal. A good man died today. A man that shouldered his burdens and kept his faith in God. Always first to offer prayer and last to utter judgement. Those that knew him as a friend will remember him as kind, forgiving and gentle. We will remember him as a father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. A man full of grace, kindness and love without condition. A good man went to Heaven today and we will miss him. Leander Woodruff passed away on October 1, 2017 the way he lived, at home and with God. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and is survived by his son, Nathan Woodruff of CA; his granddaughter, Alyssa Woodruff of NC; his brother, Henry Woodruff of NC; his sister, Una Morgan (Colin) of NM; and his nephews, Jonathan Woodruff of NC, and Leander and Damon Morgan of NM. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mental Health Assn., Forsyth County, 1509 S. Hawthorne St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. God help us to be merciful.
