Lee Edward Brown, born January 9, 1930 in Carroll County, Virginia and went home to his Lord and Savior Wednesday, October 10, 2018, he was 88.  He moved to High Point, NC after he married, then to Greensboro, NC and finally to Winston-Salem, NC where he lived out his life.  Lee began his military life in WWII at age 19, when he joined the Army in January 1949.  He left in September of that year for Korea, where he spent 18 months fighting bravely for his country.  He began working for Kroger at age 16 where he worked until his military service, and then returned to Kroger until he retired at 57.  He was a Shriner with the WS Shrine Club for many years, receiving the distinguished honor of Shriner of the Year in 1999 and 2010.  He was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church in Winston-Salem where he was also a deacon.  Lee loved woodworking, building, flowers and gardening, travel, cars, a good party, yard sales and his McDonald’s buddies.  Lee was habitually upbeat, generous, always offering a helping hand, and those who spent time with him knew his zest for life and how much he enjoyed every day.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett “Brownie” and Mahalie Brown, his wife, Wanda Horton Brown of 54 years, a daughter, Angie Leah Brown, and a brother, Gary Everett Brown.  He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Brown (Phyllis) of Myrtle Beach, SC, his daughter, Jennifer Brown Moser (Kevin) of Lexington, NC, his grandsons, Matthew Barbee (Carrie) of Anchorage, Alaska and Joshua Moser of Lexington, NC,  his granddaughter, Kelly Moser of Winston-Salem, NC, his great grandchildren, Everest, Easton and Ellis Barbee of Anchorage, Alaska, a sister, Irene Brown Horton of Winston-Salem, NC, a sister, Debbie Liddle (Barry) of Galax, VA, and a very special dear friend Darlene Mullins of Winston-Salem, NC.  An immense thank you to all the staff at Trinity Elms and the Palliative Care Unit of Forsyth Medical Center.  The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, October 14 at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Christa Warise.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers or instead, donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 22607.
