Mr. Lee Howard, 89, went home peacefully to be with his Savior on August 19, 2018. Lee was born September 21, 1928, in Guilford County to Rufus W. Howard and Lottie Hollar Howard. He graduated from Rankin High School in Greensboro. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves (WWII) and was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church for 38 years, where he was a bus captain and division leader. Lee was the Owner of Rainbow Distributors for 69 years. Lee took on many roles in this life: Dad, pawpaw, brother, uncle, cousin, but most of all Christian. He was someone who could walk into a room and immediately light it up, with his smile and love for life. He loved to talk about The Lord, his family, and his passion for gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Eva, Bertha, and Aileen. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Brenda Livengood Howard; one son, John Howard (Cindy); one daughter, Judy Howard; two step-sons, Rusty Livengood and John Livengood (Cari); seven grandchildren, Ashley Van Steen, Megan Van Steen, Jill Loftis (Brad), Garrett Livengood (Emily), McKenzie Livengood, Hunter Livengood, and Ben Livengood; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Reese, Jessie Kreis (Steve), and Jayme Beck; and seven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. A private entombment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-1:45pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Gospel Light Baptist Church. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek is assisting the family.
