Lee Otis Slate

JAMESTOWN -- Mr. Lee Otis Slate, 86, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Moses Cone Hospital. Otis was born on May 14, 1927 in Forsyth County to Andrew and Gurlie Norman Slate. Otis was an employee of Myrtle Desk Furniture for over 31 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle Church in Kernersville.

In addition to his parents, Otis was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Cook Slate; a son, Gary Slate and wife, Candy; a daughter, Robin Neese and husband, Gene; two grandchildren, Amanda Neese and Ross Neese; three great grandchildren, Caitlyn Neese, Madison Stratton and Hunter Stratton; two sisters, Myrtle Cecil (Everett) and Sudie Poole (Horace); and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. David Neese and Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the funeral home.
