Lena Mae Francis Gordon

Mrs. Lena Mae Francis Gordon, 93, passed away on Wednesday October 21, 2026, at Walnut Ridge Assisted Living. She was born on July 2, 1933, in Surry County to the late John Herbert Francis and Dora Lee Joyce Francis. Lena worked as a key punch operator at Western Electric for 10 years. She also ran a daycare at her home for 21 years. She was a member of Poplar Springs Christian Church for many years. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey E. Gordon, three brothers, Ray Francis (Sandra), Lloyd Francis, and Wade Francis (Ruth), and three sisters, Ruby Smith, Barbara Simmons, and Ann Everhart (Joe). She is survived by one daughter, Donna Rutledge (Rick) of Walnut Cove, one grandson, Adam Rutledge (Kelly) of Madison, one granddaughter, Emily Alderman (Jacob) of Germanton, two great grandchildren, Ila Rutledge and Sadie Alderman, one sister-in-law, Norma Francis, one brother-in-law, Rhonda Smith, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday October 25, 2026, at Poplar Springs Christian Church Cemetery with Chuck Bowers, minister and Griffin Gilstrap, minister officiating.
