Lena Catherine Smith

Mrs. Lena Catherine Mickey Smith, 101, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Village Care of King.  She was born November 26, 1917 in Forsyth County, the daughter of Homer Hansel Mickey and Eva Bell Ziglar Mickey.  Mrs. Smith retired from McCrory’s Dept. Store with 35 years of service.  She was the oldest member of Oak Summit United Methodist Church.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, H. Eugene Smith and one son, Jimmie C. Mickey.  She is survived by daughter-in-law, Linda K. Mickey; three sons: Michael Smith (Kathy), David Smith (Bonnie), and Randall Smith (Beth); five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.  A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, at Forsyth Memorial Park with Pastor Dan Lyons officiating.  The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 7, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Village Care of King for the exceptional care given to their mom.
