Mrs. Leota Bell Green, 91, of Ronda, NC passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Novant Forsyth Hospital. She was born May 11, 1927 in Wilkes County to Charles W. and Pearl B. Bell. Mrs. Green was a long-time Hanes Knitting employee and housewife. She was an active member in the Clingman community and with the Wilkes Cooperative Extension for many years. Most well known for her talent as a seamstress and having an eye for fashion, she sewed and altered for many friends and family. For several years, Leota served as an Alzheimer’s caregiver for her husband. Leota was one of nine children and married 67 years to the late Thomas H. Green. She is survived by two sisters, Magdalene B. McLelland of Statesville and Rose B. Soots of Elkin. Leota was mother to two children, Robin Gallagher (husband, Mike) of Hillsborough and Timothy Green (fiancée, Sandra Draughn) of Jonesville; three grandchildren, Thomas M. Gallagher of Washington, DC, as well as Morgan G. Watkins and Nathan B. Green, and their mother, Janet K. Green, all of Pawley’s Island, SC; one great-grandchild, Caoilainn M. Watkins. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Ann Compere officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
