Leslie Gordon Wilson, affectionately known as “Blinkie,” entered eternal rest at the age of 79. He was born on December 5, 1946, at New York Hospital in New York City.
Les was raised in Harlem, New York, where he developed a strong sense of community,compassion, and resilience that defined his life. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Accountingfrom Lehman College in the Bronx and went on to dedicate his professional life to service andhard work. In addition to working as an accountant and tax preparer until the day of his passing,Les spent over ten years in the food service industry, working with Kentucky Fried Chicken,Burger King, and Bojangles.
To some Les was tough; to some Les was love; to all Les was generous who helped anyone thatneeded it. Many sought his advice, trusting his wisdom, and steady guidance. His strongCatholic faith was central to his life and informed his values, character, and love for others.
He had a deep appreciation for soul music from his era and was always the life of the party—bringing laughter, warmth, and joy wherever he went. Les also loved to travel, especially toEdisto Island, South Carolina, a place close to his heart where his roots ran deep.
Leslie Gordon Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Estelle Wilson; hisbrother, Lance Wilson; and his beloved son, Khalib Lucas.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Andrea, and her husband Andre; his grandchildrenTara and Chantel; nephew Sean and his wife Katonya; sister-in-law Stefanee; niece andgoddaughter Tiffany, her husband Jerome, and Myasia; nephews Ryan and his wife Tiffanie,and Austin and Logan; and his goddaughters Tamara and Ivy, along with a host of extendedfamily and dear friends.
A memorial mass celebrating Les’s life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Our Lady ofMercy Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A quiet hour will be observed prior to theservice, which will begin promptly at 2:00 PM.
Les will be remembered for his generous heart, unwavering faith, joyful spirit, and the profoundimpact he made on the lives of all who knew and loved him.
