Leslie Jo Lindsey Winfrey

Leslie Jo Lindsey Winfrey, 75, passed away on October 26, 2026, at Village Care of King, in King, NC. She is no longer in pain and is in the arms of the Lord.

Leslie was born on February 1, 1951, in Evansville, IN, to Leonard Lee and Corinne Smith Lindsey.

It was nine months ago that she was diagnosed with liver and colon cancer. Leslie had also suffered a stroke 16 years earlier, which left her paralyzed on her left side. Her husband, Mark, and her sister, Lisa Hauser, stayed by her side during this difficult time, doing their best to give her comfort and care.

Leslie earned her bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in homemaking. She worked in Nashville as an interior designer, then joined J.C. Penny, where she worked as a custom decorator for over 25 years. She began in the custom decorating department, then joined the drapery department when it merged with the custom decorating department. She excelled at her craft, earning top drapery seller in her district.

Leslie enjoyed collecting antique pottery, such as cookie jars, and Fenton glass. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC.

In addition to her parents, Leslie was preceded in death by her parents-in-law. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Winfrey, and sister, Lisa Hauser.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC, officiated by Pastor Josh Boles. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
