Lester P. Geyer

Lester P. Geyer, 83, of Winston Salem, NC, formerly of Lansdale, PA, died December 3rd, 2014 at Fitzgerald Place at Arbor Acres. He was born July 11, 1931 to Robert and Marie (Phifer) Geyer in Worcester PA. He graduated from Quakertown, PA High School in 1949 and attended Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA.




He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; three daughters, Beth Gregory and her husband Adam, of Charlotte, NC, Lori Soper and her husband Brian of Winston Salem, NC and Michele Adame and her husband Julio of Long Beach, CA; seven grandchildren, Alex, Taylor and Haley Gregory, Emory and Jeremy Soper and Ace and Jet Adame; sister, Nancy Jane Nichol and her husband Robert of Spinnerstown, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert P. Geyer and his sister Betty Loeb and her husband Robert.




He was a member of Wentz's United Church of Christ, Worcester, PA. He served as Treasurer in 1972 and 1973 and as Deacon from 1973 to 1979.




He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. His most significant assignment was at the Naval Communication Station in Hawaii. He also served on four aircraft carriers, the U.S.S Philippine Sea, the U.S.S. Boxer, the U.S.S. Essex and the U.S.S. Kearsarge.




Mr. Geyer worked in mortgage lending for many years, retiring from Firstrust Bank, Plymouth Meeting, PA in 1998. He completed many real estate and appraisal courses and was awarded the MAI designation of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers in November 1973.




He and his wife traveled extensively. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed watching football, playing computer games, playing croquet and exercising.




A gathering of friends is planned for Monday, December 8th from 2:00pm to 3:30pm at the Arbor Room in Arbor Acres, 1260 Arbor Road, Winston Salem, NC 27104.













A memorial service will be held at 10AM on Friday, December 12th at Wentz's UCC, 3246 Skippack Pike, Worcester, PA 19446




His ashes will be interred in the Tower of Chimes Columbarium in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA.




The family wishes to thank the staff of Fitzgerald Place and the residents of Arbor Acres for their care and concern during the recent months.
