KERNERSVILLE- Mr. Lewis Ebert Peacock, 81, went to be in the presence of his Lord on March 11, 2018, at the Kate B Reynolds Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Lewis left this world with the calm dignity he displayed throughout his life. Those who knew Lewis can attest to his love and devotion to his Church, his family, and his community. Lewis spent countless cheerful hours preparing meals at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church and participating in mission work both locally and abroad. Lewis contributed to local community service and charity events through his work as a Mason. He was a "50 Year Service" member and earned the 33rd Degree of the Scottish Rite at Winston Lodge #167. Lewis served 8 times as Lodge Master and was often asked to teach new members in the ways of the Lodge. Lewis had a fondness for fishing, 50's music, gospel music, and farming. Perhaps Lewis's greatest love was the love he had for his wife Frances. They were partners in every endeavor and seldom more than arm's length apart. They were known near and far for their strawberry farm, which enticed many a berry lover to travel to Kernersville in the spring to "pick your own" or buy them pre-picked by the bucket. Truth be told, Lewis wasn't much for picking berries but he sure knew how to grow them. Those same berry customers would return in the summer and fall to get fresh produce from the Peacock Farm. Many a day has started, and ended, with Lewis on the tractor and Frances gathering the crop. Lewis was born April 19, 1936, to the late Robah Peacock, Sr, and Harriet Boles Peacock, of Forsyth County. He graduated from Hanes High School and retired from Duke Power with 36 years as an Engineer and Safety Supervisor. The life and times of Lewis will live on in the cherished memories of his wife Frances Simmons Peacock; step-daughters Cyndi Cook, Christi Cook, and Kim Williams and husband Jeff; step-granddaughters Bailey Williams and Macy Williams Sawtelle and husband Michael; daughter Elizabeth Peacock; granddaughter Alexis Swaim and husband Richard; brother Robah Peacock, Jr, and wife Martha; nephew Robah Peacock III; nieces Robin Davis and Susie Davis; and countless other family and friends. Lewis was preceded in death by his sister Shelby Davis. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church in High Point with Rev. Mark Hollar, Rev. Roy Cantrell, and Rev. Jack Rose officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions in honor of Lewis Peacock may be made to the Kate B Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem or to Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church in High Point. Flowers may be sent to the Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
