Mrs. Lillie Mae Ingram, of Walkertown, NC, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the age of 86. Born Lillie Mae Dunn, on Dec. 25, 1938, in Bear Creek, NC, she was the daughter of the late Nusem Virgil Dunn and Annie Rebecca Moody Dunn. Lillie worked most of her life in the textile industry and, upon retirement, worked part time at CUABS, a division of Truliant Credit Union. A devoted wife and mother, Lillie’s proudest achievement and greatest treasure was her family. She was selfless in trying to give her children a better life than her own, supporting them through life’s highs and lows, and inspiring them the best way she knew how. She was kind and generous and always wanted her loved ones to leave with something, however small, when they came to visit. For many years, she was known for sending cards to her children and grandchildren for every holiday or special occasion, most of which were adorned with her “famous” animal drawings and smiley faces. She and her late husband, James “Jim” Anthony Ingram, enjoyed years of tournament bowling and traveling, having taken adventures whitewater rafting in Jackson Hole, WY, cruising the Bahamas, flying through the Grand Canyon in a helicopter, and riding in a hot-air balloon. The couple also enjoyed entertaining and were known for their annual August birthday parties and Halloween parties that were attended by hundreds of friends and family throughout the years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Emma Lou Tuttle and Elizabeth Beulah Dunn; brothers Clifton Riley Dunn, William Howard Dunn, Virgil Johnson Dunn and James Lester Dunn; her first husband and father of her children, Alvin Gray Wall; and her beloved cats King Richard and Miss Daisy. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Pattie Ann Wall and husband, Mike Gooch, of Winston-Salem, NC, Donna “Kay” (Wall) Hiatt, of Winston-Salem, Stephen Gray Wall, of Kernersville, NC, and Lisa Michelle Wall, of Valdese, NC; grandchildren, Jason Dennis Wall Gallimore, Jennifer Anne Gallimore, Garth Mitchell Hiatt, and Annie Elizabeth Purdue; great-grandchildren, Sarah Lillie Mae Gallimore, with whom she had a special bond, and Mila Ann Gallimore. In addition, she is survived by her favorite nephew, Joe Burke; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family; and her baby kitty Lexi. A visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 on Saturday, June 28 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel, 3950 Macy Grove Rd. Kernersville, NC 27284. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Brookdale Senior Living. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her many friends and favorite staff members at Brookdale for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Brookdale Senior Living Activity Fund, 201 Hartley Drive, High Point, NC 27265; The Cats’ Cradle of NC, PO Box 1915, Morganton, NC 28680-1915; Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; or to the charity of one’s choice.
