Lillie Jane Mahaffey Marshall

Lillie Jane Mahaffey Marshall died peacefully in her sleep on 11 June 2023 at 87 years of age. She was born on 31 May 1936 to Olin Crusoe and Annie Mae Mahaffey, and lived her entire life in Winston-Salem.

A graduate of Griffith High School, Jane’s first job was at McLean Trucking Company, where she met her life’s love and future husband, Allen W. Marshall. She later worked for many years as church secretary at Covenant Presbyterian Church, and still later, for the customer call center at Reynolds tobacco.

Throughout her life, she was known for her strong will, her sense of right and wrong, her kindness to all, and her love for her family.

She is preceded in death by her sister Ruth Skidmore, by her brothers Charles and Bob Mahaffey, and by her husband, Allen Marshall. She is survived by her son, Douglas A. Marshall, her daughter in law, Julie A. Biskner, and her grandson, Ewan T. Marshall, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
