Lillie Mae Clodfelter Marsh

Our Lord took Lillie Mae Clodfelter Marsh to her heavenly home on December 8, 2013. She was born July 1, 1921 to Trudie Lue Aaron Clodfelter and William Jay Clodfelter Sr. She was 92, the last surviving charter member of the First Church of the Living God, now known as Faith Chapel, where it was first formed in her Uncle Lum Aaron's home in the 1930's. She was employed by RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for many years before her children were born. She loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. Over the years neighborhood children and church family children gathered in her home for fellowship and good home cooking. Many of the children called her their second mom. She had a heart of gold and throughout her life her ministry was helping others as she could, whether they needed food, money, or a place to sleep, her door was always open. Lillie Mae and her mother Trudie shared a special bond throughout Trudie's life. She cared for her in her home after her stroke, until her death in 1977. She was married to Arvol Clifton Marsh Sr. on March 31, 1945 in Winston-Salem, by Bishop Paul R. Alspaugh. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, son, Arvol Clifton ""Clif"" Marsh Jr., sister, Ruby Clodfelter Boles Gross, brother William Jay Clodfelter Sr., special sister-in-law and childhood friend, Frances Marsh Hicks, and best friends, Margaret Jean Alspaugh Noah, and Nelphia Elizabeth Foster Dillon. She is survived by daughters, Loleta (Bill) Henley, Sis(Don) Whicker, Linda Bauguess Jarvis, who lived with her family during her younger years, and whom Lillie Mae thought of as her third daughter, daughter-in-law, Debbie Marsh, eight grandchildren, Ross(Myrna), Angela, Melissa(Alfredo), Amy, Matthew(Melissa), Casey(Keri), Krysty, and Sam. Nine great-grandchildren, Sylvia(Steve), Cecilia, Presley, Ryder, Sadie, Jaksen, Jacob, Savanna, and Emma. Two great-great-grandchildren, Ean, Elie, sister-in-law, Peggy Marsh Lawing Whisenant, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, officiated by Reverend Wesley Tuttle. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends Friday, December 13, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
