Linda Shermer Joyce

Winston Salem - Mrs. Linda Joyce Shermer Joyce, 81, passed away on June 29, 2024, at Summerstone Health and Rehab Center. She was born on June 30, 1942, in Yadkin County to Gwynn and Ruth Shermer. Linda graduated from Yadkinville High School in May 1960. She then attended Bowman Gray School of Medicine. She was a proud homemaker for her family. Linda was a dedicated member of Crews United Methodist Church. Linda enjoyed painting and attending various craft fairs over the years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, James Joyce, as well as her loving aunts and uncles. She is survived by her two children Stephen Joyce (Crystal) and Susan Joyce (Timmy, Mason); four grandchildren, Stephen Paul Joyce, Sarah Indicott (Will), Dylan Smith (Jessica), and Ryan Smith (Ashley); one great granddaughter, Zelda Smith; brother, Larry Shermer (Jolene); and very special cousins. 

A funeral service for Linda will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Crews Methodist Church with Pastor Boyd Joyce and Pastor Gary Decker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 10:45 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Downs Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem at 305 W. 4th Street, Suite 811, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to Summerstone Health and Rehab Center for the care they provided to Linda during her time there. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
