Linda Joyce Warren Bowen of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at the age of 81. She was born January 21,1944 in Alamance County to the late Lloyd Wade Warren and Teva McLamb Warren. She graduated from Havelock High School, East Carolina College and completed graduate studies at UNC-Greensboro. She retired as a classroom teacher from the WS/FC Schools with 33 years of service. Following retirement, she enjoyed working for several years as a faculty secretary at Salem College. Linda enjoyed growing flowers (especially roses) and participated in the Extension Master Gardener Program. She also enjoyed singing with the Shepherd Center Singers as well as playing the upright bass for bluegrass jams which she hosted at her home in Tobaccoville, NC with her husband, Danny Bowen.
Linda was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Mizpah Moravian Church. Her personal relationship with God guided her every action and she was known for visiting the sick and shut-ins, sending cards and prayer cards of encouragement, giving to local food banks and supporting many not-for-profit charities and organizations. She will always be remembered for her laughter and her joyful spirit, her kindness and her thoughtfulness, her sweetness and her generosity. Proverbs 3:5-6 was the watchword for her life.
Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Shore Bowen, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage before his death in 2022. She is survived by daughter, Jill Gardner of Kernersville, NC; daughter Jennifer Bannon (Jack) of Catonsville, MD; a very special granddaughter, Aubrey Jean Bannon; a sister Lelia West of Severna Park, MD and many cherished cousins, 3 beloved nieces and their families and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life Service to remember Linda will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11am at Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville, NC with Reception to follow in the Commons. A graveside burial service will conclude at 3:00pm at Mizpah Moravian Church in Rural Hall, NC. Memorials may be made to Mizpah Moravian Church, 3165 Mizpah Church Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045; the Music Ministry at Main Street United Methodist Church, 306 S. Main Street, Kernersville NC 27284; Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or a local food bank in the community where you live.
