Linda Gibson Messer

Linda Lillian Gibson Messer, 76, passed away peacefully Monday, May 8, 2023, in Kernersville after a short battle with cancer.

Linda was born September 21, 1946 in Winston-Salem to Harold & Rachel Gibson.

Linda married Frank Messer in 1965. They were blessed with four children, Donald "Henry" Gibson (Diane), Stanley "Frankie" Messer (Joni), Tammy Wynette Messer and Terrie Lynn Messer.

As time went on, and her grandchildren were born, she would simply be known to everyone around her as "Granny." No matter who they were, she would treat everyone she came across in a kind, "grandmotherly" way. Kids throughout her neighborhood would call her "Granny" whenever they saw her.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband Frank and her son Stanley (Frankie).

Linda is survived by three of her four children, Donald "Henry," Tammy and Terrie; four grandchildren, KC, Erick, Michele and Brandi; one great grandchild, Geselle.

Linda will especially be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to her family, and her fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone she met.

A graveside service for Linda will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home in Kernersville.
