Lloyd Layton “Cuz” Golding, II, 87, passed away in the presence of our Lord on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Lloyd was born March 19, 1931 in Carroll County, Virginia to Loyd Estes and Ruby Carlan Golding. He grew up in Mt. Airy, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Golding was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Cathy Rogers "Lil Peanut" Golding; brothers, John Cabot Golding and Paul Joseph Golding; a sister, Nancy Golding Hayes; and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Patterson. Mr. Golding is survived by his son, Lloyd Layton Golding, III and wife Larisa; daughter Cindylu Golding Patterson; and grandchildren, Melissa Lynn Huffman, Alexandra Riley Golding, Andrei Layton Golding and Brandon Alexander Golding; as well as two great-grandchildren, Kaylie Elizabeth Huffman and Colton Mitchell Huffman. Also left to cherish his memory is his previous wife, Barbara Collins Golding; sisters, June Smith and husband Arthur, Glenda Golding Hodges and Shirley Golding; and sister-in-law, Edna Buff; as well as brothers, Tony Golding and wife Vi, Mike Moxley and wife Laurie. Upon graduating from Mt. Airy High School, Lloyd attended Draughan Business College and UNC-Chapel Hill as well as the Banking School of NC, and the American Institute of Banking's Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers. Following his banking career with Guilford National Bank, First National Bank and State Commercial Bank, he became affiliated with a national trade association in Washington, D.C. Later he was involved in real estate sales and travel consulting. Active and involved in community life, Lloyd volunteered with the Chamber of Commerce and American Red Cross. He served as President of his Rotary Club, and was State Director of the Tri-City Jaycees. He was one of the organizers and the first President of the Rockingham County Chapter of the American Institute of Banking. “Cuz” was appointed a Kentucky Colonel by the Kentucky Governor, the highest title of honor bestowed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to individuals in recognition of noteworthy accomplishments and service to the community, state or nation. He was not only a member of the Kachina Club, but was also a Diamond Jubilee Member (60 years) of both Round Peak Masonic Lodge AF & AM, Mt. Airy, and of Salem Masonic Lodge AF & FM, Winston-Salem, as well as The Winston-Salem Scottish Rite Bodies. As a member of Oasis Shriners, Lloyd was active in The Oriental Marching Band, served as President of Greensboro Shrine Club and was the first president of Rockingham County Shrine Club. He was treasurer of the Greensboro Shrine Club for many years. He enjoyed his involvement with the Charlotte Court of the Royal Order of Jesters, and cherished all aspects of Masonry and the many friends he made through those associations. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Eric Larsen and Rev. Emily Larsen officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
