Lois Brame Cheek

Lois Brame Cheek, 61, passed away peacefully at her home in Yadkinville, NC, surrounded by her family on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was born January 14, 1963, in Forsyth County to the late Richard Otis Brame and Doris Strupe Brame. At North Davidson High School, she was an accomplished majorette, participated in band, and graduated in 1981. She started college in a prestigious honors program at ASU majoring in accounting, and married Greg Cheek on July 23, 1983 before she transferred to UNCG, earning a bachelor's in Business Information & Support Systems in 1985. She started her career at Ciba-Geigy Corp. (Novartis) in 1985 focusing on Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in the IT area. She transitioned to Lowe’s Companies Inc. in 1998 and continued her career in EDI. Her hobbies included Bible study, reading spiritual books, music, baton twirling, dance, singing in the choir, and participating in church youth activities.

Lois was a selfless individual, generous to others with her time, labor, and support. She was deeply dedicated to her career, prioritizing the needs of her team members before herself with an unmatched work ethic. As a long-time caretaker of her late mother, she demonstrated tenderness, compassion, and loving devotion. Her humor, kindness, and curiosity allowed her to easily connect to others and form lasting friendships wherever she went. Her friends were always in her heart as she put forth effort to keep up with them and maintain those connections. Unwavering in her faith, Lois enjoyed studying the Bible and reading books to develop her deep spirituality, and was an active participant at Bethel Baptist Church, where she sang during services and volunteered with the youth programs. She was a loving and supportive wife, caring sister, and devoted mother whose musical talent, creativity, and sense of humor were imparted to her children, whom she helped to inspire from an early age. She made sure they always knew how much she loved and was proud of them.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Greg Cheek; three children, Andrew Cheek (Amy), Amy Cheek (Allan Guigou), and Anna Cheek; granddaughter, Artemis Cheek; brother, Richard Brame (Marie); and three sisters, Laurie Black (Ray), Susan Kilpatrick (Rich), and Sara Kearns (Randy).

A funeral service will be held at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Joel Riley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 12:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
