Mrs. Lois Mae Bedsaul Fishel, 77, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully at her home on August 19, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, caregiver, and faithful servant of the Lord, Lois lived with a generous heart and made certain that those around her knew they were loved.
Lois was born on October 18, 1948, in Forsyth County to the late Cebert Odell Bedsaul and Sallie Mae Everhart Bedsaul. She graduated from Parkland High School, achieving perfect attendance for all 12 years, and later enjoyed attending many high school reunions.
Following high school, Lois graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College with a degree in accounting. She worked at R.J. Reynolds until the birth of her daughter, when she lovingly chose to stay home with her family. As her children grew older, she became a childcare provider, sharing her love for the Lord and her joy for life with many young children.
Family was at the heart of Lois’s life. She was delighted when school redistricting meant both of her children would attend the same school and eagerly became involved with the Band Booster Club, always ready to support and encourage them.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Lois was a devoted life-long member of Hopewell Moravian Church, where she served as a diener for Lovefeasts and Candlelight Services, as a presenter, and keeping the nursery. She was also active in the Women’s Fellowship, where she enjoyed making chicken pies, until her health no longer allowed her to do so.
Lois had a special gift for making others feel remembered and loved. During the holidays, she prepared treat bags for everyone from the church children, Sunday School class members, neighbors, to church shut-ins. Her faith was evident not only in the church services she attended, but in the kindness and generosity she showed others throughout her life.
At age 37, when her son, Daniel, began beginner band, she learned to play the alto horn. She later shared her love of music by playing at the mall, at the lighting of the Moravian Star at Baptist Hospital, while Christmas caroling with the church band, and during Easter Sunrise Services. She also enjoyed gardening, camping, bowling, pickleball, trips with her Friedberg Senior Friends, and time at the beach. Above all, Lois deeply loved her family. She especially treasured watching her grandson, Aaron, play baseball and the many family trips they shared at the beach.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Bedsaul.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband of 54 years, Danny Fishel; daughter, Antonia Blinn (David); son, Daniel Fishel Jr. (Jeannine); grandson, Aaron Blinn; brother, Richard (Darlene); sister-in-law, Cheryl Garrett (Larry; brother-in-law, Jim Fishel (Ann), and many cousins, extended family members, and friends.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to caregivers Darlene, Rolanda, Joyce, Ada, Lilia, and Deborah for the love and care provided to Lois during her illness.
Lois leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, and service. Her family finds comfort in knowing that the faith she carried throughout her life ensures that she is at home with the Lord she loved and served so faithfully.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Hopewell Moravian Church, with the Rev. Elizabeth Corney officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
