Kernersville - Mrs. Lois Daniels Horton, 86, passed away Saturday, February 08, 2014 at her daughters home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 28, 1927 to the late Eugene and Iola Carnegie Daniels. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Eugene Horton, Sr., 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
Mrs. Horton was a graduate of Hanes High School. She lived in Kernersville since 1973 and was a member of Kernersville First Baptist Church for 41 years, and the Dorcus Sunday School Class. In her later years, she assisted in the operation of Daniels Furniture Company, a long standing family business in Winston Salem. She will always be remembered for her love and dedication to her family.
Surviving are her five daughters, Bonnie Thomas (Ken) of Winston-Salem, Jean Raines (Ken) of Easley, S.C., Pat Braswell (James) of Jacksonville, Fl., Marie Weavil (Ron) of New London and Terri Horton Shelton of Kernersville; three sons, Pete Horton, Jr. (Julie) of Kernersville , C.R. Horton of Gaffney, S.C. and Layne Horton (Pam) of Easley, S.C. She was a very special ""Nannie"" to 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Dot Daniels.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday February 11, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with her great nephew, Trooper Brent Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, February 10, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
