Lois Hemrick Mustin

KERNERSVILLE- Lois Ernestine Hemrick Mustin, 92, went home to be with her Saviour, The Lord Jesus, April 30, 2017. She was born into the family of John Henry and Ada Lou Hemrick on December 6, 1924, in Forsyth County.
She was loved and affectionately called ""Ma"" and ""Granny"" by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed. She was a longtime member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Ma was also a lifetime member of the VFW 1134 Ladies Auxiliary and Ladies Auxiliary ANVET's. After retiring from Fairchild Industries, she started Ma's Childcare in her home because of her love for children. She continued to keep children up until her death.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mustin was preceded in death by four sisters and 3 brothers; her husband Hubert C. Mustin of 68 years; a loving daughter Phyllis Sullivan and son-in-law, Gerald Sullivan; son Larry Steven Mustin who was killed in Vietnam.
She leaves to cherish her memory, seven grandchildren, Linnea (wife, Leslie) Sullivan of Kernersville, Michael (wife, Doria) Sullivan of Kernersville, Isamu Shimabukuro, Bernie Shimabukuro both of Hawaii, Kiyomi Shimabukuro (husband, Franco) of Kernersville, Larry Shimabukuro (wife, Joy) of Kernersville, and Tracy Mustin of Winston-Salem; 16 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Gospel Light Christian School Library, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 in memory of Larry Steven Mustin or to Gospel Light Baptist Church in memory of Phyllis M. Sullivan.
