Lola Widener Shelton

Mrs. Lola Widener Shelton, 83 of Lexington, NC passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Lola was born April 17, 1931 in Washington Co. VA to the late John Richard and Nova Jeanette Roark Widener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Shelton, a son; Mark W. Shelton and a number of six brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter and son-in-law; Vera and Shane K. Smith of Lexington, NC and lots of extended family. When anyone thinks of Lola, they speak of a Great Woman, who overcame great loss and lack of education, who was able to go back to school and gain employment with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant, working there for fifteen years.
