Loretta Parnell

KERNERSVILLE – Loretta Hine Parnell, 87, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Hospice Home of the High Point surrounded by her family. Loretta was born on January 29, 1936 in Forsyth County to Ivey C. and Ruth Craven Hine. She was a member at Friedland Moravian Church all of her life, where she was a member of the choir, served as president of the Women’s Fellowship, Circle Leader and on the Board of Elders. Loretta was a 1954 graduate of Robert B. Glenn High School, where she met her husband and best friend, Linley. They married on February 27, 1955 and were blessed with 3 children, Angela Grey, Kevin Hine and Bradley Logan. She loved her family and church family dearly and enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends.

In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Linley; and two sisters, Norma Sue Chambers, and Betty Reich.

Surviving are her 3 children, Angie Swaim (Dean), Kevin Parnell (Gena) and Bradley Parnell (Teri); 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and was looking forward to the addition of two more this fall. She is also survived by one sister, Catherine H. Sloan; a  close brother-in-law, Gary Parnell (Geraldine); and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023 at Friedland Moravian Church with Rev. John Rights officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
