Loretta Pruitt Elliott

She worked in education in Forsyth County for more than 30 years. After retiring as the principal of the Career Center she dedicated her life to community service. She was a passionate co-founder and leader for Paw Alliance and worked tirelessly to place dogs in good homes. She also served in several leadership positions in the Winston-Salem Women’s Club. She was a long time member of Traphill Baptist Church. 

Loretta enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and offering a helping hand to all her many dear friends.   

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Chy Pruitt and Martha Edith Bauguess Pruitt; and her brother-in-law J.B. South. She is survived by her sister Lou Ella South of Boone; her niece Dr. Shannon South and husband Dr. Pete Sansbury of Asheville, NC; her nephew John South and wife Kirstin South of Raleigh, NC; stepson Brian Elliott and wife Dr. Yen Elliott of Clemmons; grand step children Keira, Lela, and Nico; and dear friend, Holly Fox and her daughter Millie of Winston-Salem, NC. Her great niece, Aleah Seay and her great nephews Finley and Carson South were the joy of her life. 

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday June 16. 2023 at the Silas Creek location at Hayworth-Miller funeral home. Visitation will follow from 3 to 4 pm. A burial service is forthcoming at the Traphill Baptist Church cemetery in Traphill, NC.
