Loretta Jean Wilson

Loretta Jean Wilson, 84, of Kernersville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, after a long illness. She was born on July 12, 1941, in Buchanon County, VA, to the late Lum and Ida Matney of Swords Creek, VA.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Paul Gene Wilson.

Loretta was a loving mother, grandmother, and Aunt. Her family brought her so much joy, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of her lineage and showed her love and support in any way she could. Family was everything to Loretta.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Wilson Gravitte and husband Robert of Kernersville, NC; her son, Michael Dwain Wilson and wife, Amanda, of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Laura Gravitte Phelps and husband Nathan, Ashley Gravitte Baity and husband Tyler of Kernersville, NC, Cameron Michael Wilson, Jordan Alexander Wilson, Jackson Avery Wilson of Nashville, TN; as well as 7 great-grandchildren, Addilyn Gene Baity, Beau Gibson Phelps, Emma Kate Baity, Stella Tyndal Baity, Gavin Paul Phelps, Lily Katherine Phelps, and Summer Faye Phelps.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the excellent care that Loretta received at Novant Health Medical Center in Kernersville, NC, as well as Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, NC, and the exceptional care and friendship Loretta received at Summer Stone Health and Rehab Center in Kernersville, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 30, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Rob Decker officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 1:00-2:45 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Cedar Bluff, VA.
