Lottie Mae Green

For 84 years, Lottie lived a life filled with family, laughter, good food, beautiful things, and people she loved. If you knew Lottie, you knew one thing for certain: she was one of a kind.

Lottie had a presence. She was funny, spirited, social, and wonderfully full of life. She could walk into a room and change its energy. She loved people, and people loved being around her. Very often, Lottie was the life of the party.

She knew her own mind and never left you wondering what was on it. Lottie was straight to the point. She said what she thought, meant what she said, and if she needed to make her point perfectly clear, you just might hear: “If my name ain’t Lottie…" Those who loved her can probably hear her saying it right now.

Beneath that bold personality was a woman deeply rooted in family. She cherished the memory of her late parents and late husband, and dearly loved her brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren, son-in-law, nieces, and nephews. They were her people.

Lottie loved her house, and she liked everything in it just right. She was also a wonderful cook, and her peas and rice became one of those family dishes everyone loved. Years from now, somebody may make a very good pot, but someone will still say, “It’s good…but it isn’t Lottie’s.”

Lottie believed in taking care of herself. Her hair needed to be right. Her nails needed to be right. And her fragrance? Coco Chanel. Looking good and smelling good were simply part of being Lottie.

Perhaps what people will remember most clearly is that Lottie knew how to be herself. She had opinions. She had humor. She had style. She had a voice. Her personality could light up a room, and she left an impression wherever she went.

Her absence will be felt at family gatherings, around the dinner table, inside the home she loved, when someone smells Coco Chanel, when peas and rice are served, and in those moments when everyone suddenly knows exactly what Lottie would have said.

There will be tears, but there will also be laughter, and there should be. A woman this funny deserves to be remembered with laughter, and a woman this full of life deserves stories told again and again.

Today we remember the daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, relative, and friend. The wonderful cook. The woman who loved her house. The woman whose hair and nails were going to be right. The woman who smelled like Coco Chanel. The woman who could make you laugh, tell you exactly what was on her mind, and light up a room.

There will never be another Lottie. And perhaps sometime in the years ahead, when this family is together, laughing, eating, telling stories, and debating exactly how something happened, everyone may hear that familiar voice: “If my name ain’t Lottie…”

And we’ll smile. Because for 84 years, her name was Lottie.

She was here. She was loved. She made her mark. And she will be sorely, sorely missed. 

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Lottie will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. There will be no formal visitation held.
