Lottie Couch Ray

Mrs. Lottie Couch Ray, 84, of Durham, NC passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Grace Health Care Center in Durham. She was born in Wilkes County on August 22, 1923 to the late Edmond Seton and Hattie Darnell Couch. Mrs. Ray was a member of Griffith Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. She was an avid gardener and loved her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. Ray. She is survived by 3 children, Sheila Ray Giles and her husband Jim of Pikeville, KY, Gary Ray and his partner David Booth of Durham, Scott Ray and his wife Suanne of Winston-Salem; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Giles officiating. Mrs. Ray will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
